What is Yoga Therapy?

Phoenix Rising Yoga Therapy is a one-on-one, client-centered practice that combines elements of yoga and contemporary psychology to explore the relationship between your body, your mind and your life. Using guided meditation, gentle stretches, and simple dialogue, Phoenix Rising reveals the root causes of stress, tension and anxiety in a confidential and non-judgmental environment. This guided experience allows you to explore the connection between what’s happening in your body and what’s happening in your life. Clients often receive greater mental and emotional clarity around significant life issues, release stored tension and gain a sense of physical, emotional and spiritual wellbeing. No prior yoga experience is necessary.

How Does it Work?

Consider the idea that our body, mind, thoughts and emotions are not separate entities but rather woven aspects of the same integrated whole. It is common sense that a life event can create physical body tension or a thought or memory can trigger an emotional response. Your memories, feelings, beliefs and sensations are all maintained on a physical cellular level.  The story of your life is literally embodied. In this way, your body is a like a map, containing your unique history. Rather than looking outside for answers or remedies, consider the possibility that everything you need to know is already inside of you. Awareness is the key to integration of the body, mind, and spirit.

What is included in a Session?

Cathy offers one-on-one, client led, Phoenix Rising Yoga Therapy Practice Sessions. While being guided through meditation, breath, movement and gentle yoga postures you are invited to become aware of what is happening in the moment. Memories, emotion, thoughts and physical sensations are welcomed to safely emerge. As thought, emotion and physical sensation are explored, tension is released and reflective awareness creates space for the possibility of transformation and personal growth.
