Yoga with Julie

Classes every Saturday and Sunday at 10 a.m.

Noticing how well I felt after taking one yoga class, I was hooked. That was almost 15 years ago. Yoga has become one of my passions. I have studied several different styles of yoga with a variety of instructors. I love the philosophy of yoga and have been enjoying teaching for about 6 years. During each session we will work all the major muscle groups but before we start I like to ask input from the class participants. If there is anyone who has a particular stiff area or certain request, we can focus on those as well. This allows for each session to be customized, individual, and different from the last. Once per month I will have a 1 & 1/2 hour class, just for fun. (same price, date posted monthly at The Zen Room)

Qigong with Muhammed

Classes every Saturday at 8 a.m. at the Riverfront Park.

Qigong
(Chi Kung)

The Zen room will start to offer Chi Kung (Qigong) Workshops. Chi kung (Qigong) is a series of ancient Chinese meditative and internal energy exercises that helps the practitioner increased physical energy, release tension, improved health and gain the ability to heal oneself and others. The word Qigong is made up of two Chinese words. Qi is usually translated to mean the life force that flows through all things in the universe and gong means a skill that is cultivated through steady practice. Together, Qigong means cultivating energy. Qigong is one of the most powerful prescription a TCM (Traditional Chinese Medicine) doctor can use because it works directly on the body's healing energy system. Today in China, more than 100 million people practice is this self-healing energy system daily. In hospitals and clinics across China, Qigong is routinely prescribed to treat arthritis, asthma, bowel problems, diabetes, migraines, hypertension, rheumatism, neuralgia, stress, ulcers, and many other conditions. Qigong has also been used to successfully treat cancer and reduce or even eliminated the debilitating side effects of radiation and chemotherapy. The gentle rhythmic movements of Qigong has been found to improve cardiovascular, respiratory, circulatory, lymphatic and digestive functions. Those who maintain a constant practice of Qigong find that it helps one regain a youthful vitality, maintain health even into old age and speeds recovery from illness. Qigong's great appeal is that everyone can benefit, regardless of ability, age, belief system or life circumstances.

EMILY SABO

INSTRUCTOR BIO :

Trained in New York City and the former owner of City Pilates, Emily Sabo teaches multiple variations of Pilates and Yoga practice to beginners and advanced practitioners alike, focusing on proper technique, alignment and breath.  For the advanced practitioner, Emily has honed a unique and aggressive style of Vinyasa flow, incorporating advanced yoga postures, transitions, inversions and arm balances.  For beginners, Emily has developed a teaching style emphasizing fundamentals and building from the ground up:  by introducing the practitioner to the internal muscles in his or her  body that may not have been awakened and utilized in other exercise or activity, Emily is able to teach beginners proper alignment and breath from the outset to avoid injury and/or address existing injury and to develop a deep and integrated practice from the outset.

VINYASA FLOW CLASS DESCRIPTION:
Vinyasa means “breath-synchronized movement.”  True to its name, this class will deepen your breath thereby cleansing the body while moving you through a series of postures focused on alignment, breath, strength and flexibility.  While the postures may be challenging for some, each may be modified and tailored for either the more advanced or less advanced practitioner.  Instructor, Emily Sabo, gives detailed verbal cues to help the beginner find the postures and the internal muscles which support them and to help the advanced practitioner to deepen each posture to get the most out of it.  Namaste.

PILATES CLASS DESCRIPTION:
Pilates, similar to Yoga, focuses on breath and movement in well aligned postures designed to explore the link between the body and mind.  By building muscle memory and finding small internal muscles of which you may not have formerly been aware, Pilates helps to build long, lean muscle while increasing flexibility, lung capacity, strength and especially core strength.  Instructor, Emily Sabo, will take you through the traditional intermediate Pilates mat sequence modified as necessary for the practitioners in attendance at the particular class and incorporating additional exercises and modifications to prepare for more advanced postures as well as deepen less advanced postures.  Emily gives detailed verbal cues to help the beginner find the postures and the internal muscles which support them and to help the advanced practitioner to deepen each posture to get the most out of it.

ALYCEN

Tuesdays at 4:45 pm- YOGA SOUL

Yoga has brought me to a point in my life in which I am able to realize my innate
nature of inner peace and joy, and my passion is to bring that same sense of
awareness and freedom to others. I have been a facilitator of yoga for seven years
(RYT-200), and my own practice, self-study, and training over the last eleven years
has included many styles and forms of yoga such as Iyengar, Ashtanga, Anusara,
Integral, Kid’s Yoga, Prenatal Yoga, and Yoga Therapy. My educational background
includes a BA in Kinesiology and a MS in Exercise Science, in which I am able to
blend and bring my knowledge of each into my yoga classes. I am blessed to be
a mother to an amazing daughter and a wife to a devoted and loving husband,
and both of these roles have bestowed upon me many valuable lessons that I
incorporate into my classes as well. I celebrate the endless wonders of life on this
constant journey of learning to acknowledge, accept, and honor myself with grace
and gratitude. I hope to be able to take you on this same voyage. You can contact

Yoga with Diane

Classes every Wednesday at 6 p.m.

As a yoga teacher, my goal is to bring the rewarding experience of yoga to beginners and advanced practitioners alike.  I enjoy helping others reduce stress and find yoga-based solutions that may relieve and even reverse the effects of various physical and mental conditions.  I’ve experienced many of these conditions myself, and have found yoga has helped them all.  My belief is that yoga is an activity with huge payoffs for the time and energy invested.  As you practice, you’ll find the benefits of yoga are profound, often in unexpected ways.  The effects are cumulative, and increase as you continue returning to your mat over time.  Body, mind, and spirit will thrive as you achieve a greater state of balance through your practice.

I completed teacher training through Red Sun Yoga in Orlando where I received my certification in Hatha Yoga, Pranayama, and Meditation in May 2008.  Since then, I’ve completed additional workshops and training through Red Sun and Yoga Journal conferences.  I've also studied with local yoga instructors Jan Seals and Alycen LaBarca.  I look forward to sharing your practice, and invite you to relax and rejuvenate with me on Wednesday evenings at 6:00 pm at The Zen Room.  The class style is traditional, and taught with the beginner in mind.  More challenging pose modifications are offered for experienced students.

Yoga with Kim

Mondays at 3:30 p.m.Yoga and 4:45 p.m. Yoga.

After several car accidents in the early 90's I turned to yoga as a way
to stop the recurring pain I constantly experienced in my neck and lower
back. In the 15 years since, it has been a fulfilling path of knowledge,
strength, and inner calm that I have found within my practice of yoga. It
truly is a mind body spirit union, as it has not only kept my muscles
strong, to keep my spine in alignment, it has also helped me achieve a
sense of quiet confidence, strength, inner peace and balance that no other
activity I know of could have accomplished.

I really enjoy being able to share the amazing benefits that yoga can
provide to enhance and enrich a person's mental and physical abilities and
hope to be able to help people realize their complete potential with their
mind, body and spirit.
